Weekly Update - 19.07.10 - 25.07.10

SWIM

Squad x 2
Non-squad x 1

~10km

Back to normal on the swimming front, our main pool is back open but we are still without changing rooms which makes the dash back to the car in wet togs and towel not so fun but at least we can swim in the main pool. Had a good descending 4x400m set and a few other longish sets.

Good long ride in the weekend of a bit under 130km and it was sunny!! Perfect. Did the TT on Saturday which wasn't my best effort but better than the last time. I seem to have lost my short power mojo, power on my long rides is good but I suck at anything under 2hrs. Since I'm training for a bike which will take much longer than 2hr I'm not too concerned and I guess I can't be great all the time... ;)

RUN

Time: 4hrs48
Distance: ~59km

Quite a big week for me this week with 2hrs08 being my longest run. Can't say I'm a fan of running for over 2hrs, even over 1hr30 is a bit of a slog. But it must be done so I will have a few more 2hr+ runs leading up to Wisconsin. The next two weeks will be a bit less with Taupo half next weekend followed by a little break from running to avoid breaking myself again and then I'll be back into it with my next long run. The half in the weekend is supposedly a flat course and part of it on the Ironman run course so hopefully I'll be looking at a fast time if I don't blow myself up...

Weekly Update - 12.07.10 - 18.07.10

SWIM

Squad x .5...
Non-squad x 1

~2.7km....

A bit of an epic failure on the swimming front this week. Our pool was due to be open again on Monday, we turned up and it was only half full so we were back in the kiddies pool. Unfortunately it was about 34deg and really not pleasant so decided to cut our losses and go home and watch the Tour. Wednesday I had a cold so decided to give swimming a miss and get a bit of extra sleep. Turned out to be a good move as the main pool was open but pretty arctic so squad was still in the overheated kiddies pool. By Friday I was still a bit sick but manged a 2km tootle at Newmarket so all was not completely lost... Should be back to normal next week...

BIKE

Time: 14hrs16
Distance: 361km

Missed a day of riding this week with a bit of sickness plus bad weather - was only riding to work and back so no great loss. Was back to better health for the weekend so knocked out 125km with a few good hills and some good time in the aero bars.

Hello Whitford

RUN

Time: 3hrs30
Distance: ~43.8km

Missed my Wednesday track session and had to shuffle things around a bit and did my long run on Thurs instead of Sat. Wasn't feeling great so didn't go very fast and kept the heart rate down but managed to get 2hrs into the leggy bank so that was good. And no poo issues which is great news.

Weekly Update - 05.07.10 - 11.07.10

SWIM

Squad x 1 (ish...)
Non-squad x 2

~8.5km

Attempted to swim with our squad which is being held in the leisure pool, this was a bit of a failure as swimming in a 20m pool in 30deg+ water isn't much fun. To do 400m's was 20 lengths and really did my head in. Lucky I wasn't leading because counting lengths isn't really my strong point. Apparently the main pool should be open again next week.

BIKE

Time: 14hrs15
Distance: 357km

Mostly good weather this week ( a wee bit cold though...) so only had one session on the dreaded windtrainer. Did the TT on Saturday and absolutely sucked. It was pretty cold and my power was about 20w off what it should have been (thats a lot for a little person). No-one was super fast so at least I wasn't alone in my sluggishness. I have been a bit slack in the TT effort department so maybe a bit more effort is needed there.
Did a Sunday ride of 120km so getting the long rides in which is good.

RUN

Time: 4hrs27
Distance: ~55km

Pretty good week aside from some pretty nasty GI issues which threatened to derail my long run. Better out than in though so once that was sorted it was all good. Had a pretty average track session but at least I ran further than the girl who was also at the track, she was there for about 2/3's of the time I was there and ran maybe 800m while I did about 5000m... I assume she was a sprinter...

~10km

Managed a 4km swim on my own this week woo hoo!! Did 4x400m, 3x300m, 2x200m and 1x100m as the main set so it wasn't too painful. Did a bit of speedwork (10x50m) on Friday which was a bit of a shock to the system as we haven't done any speed stuff since leaving the Teps. But I managed to keep up with the big kids (they were getting a wee bit more rest than me...) so it was all good.

Wow. Didn't realize I rode so much until I downloaded it all. Had a good ride on the weekend for 4 hours. I have realized I have to be a bit flexible with my long rides and just do them when the weather is looking good in the weekend. So switched my long ride to Saturday which was good because Sunday was pretty poo and I wouldn't have wanted to be out there for 4 hours. Picked up a really annoying boyfriend on Saturday who caught up to us when we stopped at the traffic lights and just sat on my wheel for a few kms no matter what I did to get rid of him. I tried riding hard but that didn't work so I slowed down completely and stopped pedaling and I could see from his shadow that he stopped pedaling too!!! Get the message man!! So after a while I put in a burst to catch back up to Jared who was up the road a bit and managed to drop him. How annoying.

Check out my styley new Hot Cycles kit.

RUN

Time: 4hrs40
Distance: ~58km

Did a few longer efforts on the track this week, not my best effort but wasn't too bad and had a long run of about 1hr45. Nothing very exciting to report.
